I know you said pc only but if you have a PS2 get XenoSaga or Star Ocean till the end of time. Oh and Legend of Legaia on PS1 is amazing.

For me Xenosaga 2&3. Also the most recent Star ocean game I forget what it is called but till the end of time was amazing and they followed it up with a game so crappy I wanted to take a sledgehammer to it, come to think of it I probably should.
