Powerful Processors and graphics cards have never promised a good game. frankly I don't care about any of that stuff, and it seems that the game developers that do are usually the ones whose terrible business practices ensure Im not buying they're games anyway.
The only thing I'll be boycotting out of respect for the Sandy Hook Shootings is actual Firearms and ammunition. I don't see how my Not playing video-games will help bring any victims families.
I think point distribution systems and progressive skill improvement systems all have their place and time. It really depends on what kind of experience the developer wants you to have. Action-RPGs (like Mass Effect) for example; don't really lend themselves towards progressive skill development...
I gotta say i was happy to have this lawsuit last til the end of time. I LOVE fallout but the idea of a fallout MMO makes me depressed. Mainly because i fear that it will do to Fallout what WoW did to the warcraft series. I.E. destroy the odds of a sequel.

We have that here in Ontario, CA, and its a manditory requirement for graduating from high school, most people do a shitty job of it, another handful of people (such as myself) forge the documents, and some people actually quit high school altogether rather than work for free.
