    Looking for a Sega Genesis game. Start off as an elephant I think. You meet other animals with abilities to cross water and such. 2D sidescroller. Plain 2D like mario/sonic games.

    DEMON SWORD - NES. IT MUST BE DEMON SWORD! I searched for this game a couple years back. I had it on NES when I was a kid. Your description of the cave upward scrolling sounds like a match. If you go right in the cave, it goes on forever. If you get smart and make your way up, boss battle.
