I'm going to "third" Assassin's Creed here. It's the only game I know of where tricking another player into thinking you're an AI character is a practical strategy. For some reason I always wanted to do that as a kid.

For my first playthrough I make an original character who I try to work into what I understand of the game's universe, without any specific recurring features. For a second playthrough I might make a ridiculous joke character but I rarely actually finish those playthroughs.

I usually play the good guy but have a hard time taking rudeness, taunting, or racism from NPCs so if that happens I just off them (if doing so doesn't break the game, anyway).
