Eragon, full-stop. Read it as a kid and even then I thought it was awful. Tried to read the second book once, on the off-chance the author had improved between volumes. Couldn't make it past page 5.

The "Synthesis" ending seemed like it tore open another giant plot hole. If the Catalyst could fuse organics and synthetics in order to keep them from killing each other, why not do that in the first place?! Why bother with the Reapers at all if you've already got a full-proof, peaceful solution...
