I know this is supposed to be an escapist forum, but the last thing I should be doing right now is to escape from my issue at hand. I don't know if I've lost her yet, but I can't sit by and do nothing while she walks out of my life for good. Just as the title mentioned, I need some relationship...

I don't think that games do that to you, but rather the extent you rely on video games as an escape mechanism could be relational to how you are as a person. Ultimately, there's playing games to relax and destress and there's immersing yourself in video games to escape from all sorts of reality.
I agree that it's ultimately how well they do it and the extent they portray it across to the audience. Some shows portray it well, breaking the 4th wall as a central foundation to the game/show, while others may use it for lack of better ideas, resulting in a seemingly lazy portrayal of characters.
I guess sometimes it's because people have made plans with other people to watch the movie that they can't get out of? Like making plans with your bros to watch it but your girlfriend randomly suggests the week before that she wants to watch it and you have no choice.
I think it depends on your purpose for watching the movie: to fulfill your childhood-adulthood fanhood of Marvel comics coming to life, or simply to enjoy a movie. Ragnarok seems to cater to the latter, essentially providing a light-hearted, yet entertaining movie.
