Really modern society's doing pretty good, to be honest - a lot of what I see in this thread is stuff I would either not want in the slightest, or really seems like wishful thinking (i.e. yeah, that's what they *said* they did back then). The only thing we've really lost in modern society...

The problem I have with subscription based MMOs is everything in them is designed to take an excessive amount of time to accomplish (with WoW's do-this-every-day-for-a-month dailies leading the charge). Since my friends aren't interested I think I'll be sitting this one out.
