PS3 is overpriced as hell, and isn't backwards compatable (i dont think....). I got my PS2 a few months ago. Countless games are available for it, many are fantastic. I sugguest Naruto Ultimate Ninja 3 if you are into that kind of thing.

The story is ok. I didnt care for online verses. never tried horde mode. Heard it was fun tho. I dont think it is worth it, but I really havn't tried it all, so im not a good judge.

I believe that video gaming is a "sport" the same way that chess is a "sport", and pool is a "sport", and poker is a "sport".... It requires a lot of practice and hand eye coordination, and it is quite compeditive. But it isn't physical the same way football, tennis, and hockey are sports.

Halo 3 was only ok for me... Nothing special, but then again, I'm more of an RTS man myself
