While I agree that Age of Conan is mostly a clone of World of Warcraft, you picked one of the two classes that showcases it the most. The two real mage classes (Demonologist and Necromancer) are pretty much copy+pasted from other MMOs. As such, of course armor is fairly useless. Additionally...
