Whilst I would love to recommend an N64 to you, it almost seems a bit redundant when you can get many of its best games for free on the internet. The PS3, on the other hand, is the newer console, which for me makes it seem as if this is an easy option.

It also depends on the TV, is it Full HD or only HD Ready? Also, the size of your TV, if it is more than 50" then you won't really notice a difference between either 720p or 1080p.
