Death Stranding 2: On the Beach... and a little retrospective on Hideo Kojima's Open World games.

Not that far in, a couple of chapters and I reckon this is exactly the kind of sequel that most people will praise for its increased complexity in terms of gameplay and writing compared to its predecessor while also creating a loud minority of players who will be very vocal about how they...

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach... and a little retrospective on Hideo Kojima's Open World games.

Clearly, he wasn't very succesful with that, considering DS2 is reviewing really well.

    Funny events in anti-woke world

This is literally just the villain monologue from MGS2 if it was written by a simpleton and all the social darwinist stuff about natural selection is only implied.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach... and a little retrospective on Hideo Kojima's Open World games.

I'm happy it's so warmly received! Critical reception of the first game was overall positive but there were quite a few outliers who really couldn't get into it. Seems that 2 managed to win a lot of those over. Game unlocks at midnight, so in about 8 hours here. I don't think I'll stay up for...

Fun fact: This show is, relatively directly, a parody of the Danish series Riget.

MindsEye - In the town of Redrock, a page right out of history

I have got to admit: I'm way too eager to try out just about every sub-mediocre open world action game that comes out. I've played Mafia 3, I've played Watch Dogs Legion, I've played Forspoken, I've played almost every single awful Saints Row game that came out after 2. In my defense, I didn't...

    New Silent Hill Games

It holds up pretty well. Enemy designs are a bit bland and the plot... well, it's a Lovecraft pastiche with the New England town and the demon worshipping cult and the ancient evil god. But it's super well paced and probably still has my single favourite setpiece in the series.

Escape from the 21st Century (2024) Chinese fantasy action comedy by Li Yang. On a planet much like earth, a trio of teenagers are exposed to some chemicals that cause their consciousnesses to travel 20 years into the future and back whenever they sneeze. There, they are not only confronted...

    The Mainstream ruins everything

I dunno. I feel that's following a period of them becoming incrementally harder. I mean, compare the fights in Dark Souls 1 or Bloodborne (excluding the DLC) to those in Elden Ring and Lies of P. I understand there's some backlash. I dropped Lies of P halfway through because I felt that I had...

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach... and a little retrospective on Hideo Kojima's Open World games.

How about we get to Kojima's most recent game? 2019 saw the release of Death Stranding (2019) Following his divorce from from Konami in 2015, Kojima announced that he and quite a number of people who've been working with him would go independent. At long last able to move on from the Metal...

The Switch 2 - It's got magnets now.

What they have announced right now just doesn't convince me. Donkey Kong And Metroid Prime 3 look good but they're not enough to sell me on the console. I don't need better hardware to play indie games on.

    US 2024 Presidential Election

What is, then? Economically? What trade does the Vatican do that would give it it any global leverage? What it has is being the central authority of Catholic Christianity. Which, don't get me wrong, isn't nothing but it's also not that much, globally speaking. On a quick search, the global...
