Poll: How do you normally play a game series?

I picked "doesn't matter," but it would be more accurate to say that "it depends on the series." With franchises like Final Fantasy or Silent Hill, for example, I just cherry-pick entries that interest me.

Games where you are the bad guy (but don't know it)

Braid. Turns out you're a creepy stalker who can't move on.

    What's your game?

Sonic the Hedgehog (1991) and Myst (1993) deserve pretty much all the credit.

Admit what games you suck at.

I suck at Starcraft (and Starcraft 2) under any circumstances, but I concur with Ando85 that resource-flush maps and no-rushing declarations are particularly irritating. My success rate (extremely low) is never affected one way or the other by these things because I don't play on BGH maps and if...

    Fallout 4:San Francisco

This trailer doesn't look even a little bit real.

    First game you ever played?

Timeout on the Apple Macintosh IIsi. (Nine whole megabytes of memory!) The game was Breakout, but with a time limit.

Poll: Your Game of the Year so far

Deus Ex: Human Revolution, followed by Portal 2. (But I'm waiting for the PC version of Arkham City.)

    Why is canon called canon?

The word itself was derived from ancient Greek and referred to a reed or rod used as a standard of measurement to which people should adhere. Eventually, it came to refer to a standard of measurement dictated by the church to which people should adhere. And then the Bible thing. Cannon, on...

The Bad Things about Human Revolution

A piece of dialogue that made me laugh: Complaints: 1. Boss fights. They all suck. 2. Endgame semi-spoiler (I keep it vague enough that only someone who has finished will know what I'm talking about, but better safe than sorry).

So how is Deus Ex: Human Revolution?

All of the guards in the tutorial can be avoided. It's tricky in the last of the three "encounters," but if you get down the stairs and into cover as fast as possible (while they're still coming into the room), you can circumvent them.

Deus Ex makes me feel like a hypocrite

The dialogue between Jensen and Megan on the elevator in the intro-walk pretty much stops just shy of spelling out that they're no longer together (for example, he moved out of her house before fencing in the yard for the benefit of Kubrick the dog, which he promised to do, but never followed...

    Deus Ex Human Revolution Gameplay

Only in the sense that Vampire: the Masquerade: Bloodlines is the White Wolf World of Darkness version of the original Deus Ex.

Deus Ex: HR getting crazy good reviews.

If guards happen upon an unconscious compatriot, they will wake him up. Not so if he's dead.

Is it a stretch to say that Gamers are *Prejudiced against eachother*? *fixed*

I think the distaste different "sects" of gamers have for one another is often emphasized by a shared persecution complex, especially here on the Escapist, where we're constantly aware of the latest "violent/sexual content is corrupting society" rant from a pundit, the latest attempt to curtail...
