If you wanna stick with the nightmare ending... You could have it finish with a sort of interactive cutscene, the main character escapes the mansion some how, wakes up in bed - head on pillow. Then have the character sit up in the bed(have movement confined to just being able to look around...

Always been kicked before the maps finished downloading when i've tried to play it... tbh kodo tag is more fun :P
