Here is an answer for how Kitty acquired her power. She is a mutant, she mutated. How she got her power is not important for the movie at all.
And Quicksilver was all kinds of awesome and hilaroius. Overall very good performances from a very impressive cast. And some pretty compelling story...

The "no character arcs" is bullshit by the way. Peter has an arc, Electro a short one, Harry a pretty important one.

I can understand going with Breaking Bad - but Dexter? That is just bad taste. Has he never seen Game of Thrones, House of Cards, Band of Brothers, Twin Peaks, The Wire, Firefly, The X-Files and so on?
A movie about the old gang passing the torch on to the new generation could be a beautiful story. I would rather see something like this instead of a movie were the old guys show up to save the day once again.
Passing the torch was after all part of what made the original storyline...
