I don't see how achievments could hurt the game. They could drive both newcomers and jaded vets to try funny stuff. Those who don't like it can just ignore them. Now, achievments that sum "points" and that could generate "I have a bigger e-peen" discussions, those I wish would just never be...

The most elegant way out of this by EA would be to "play Valve", apologize and release a free patch that unlocks the armor + weapons "console exclusive" DLC. But knowing EA as I do, my expectations are of them patching the already coded-in DLC OUT of the game, thus making the savefile/fix...
