    Monster Hunter Tri

Uh, it's good because it's a game where you FIGHT GIANT FUCKING DINOSAURS AND SEA MONSTERS WITH HAMMERS. If that idea doesn't float your boat, then you are insane. It's also fun as fuck once you learn to use a weapon properly. And you know why people care that Yahtzee shit on it? Look at the...

    Monster Hunter Tri

People have already spouted plenty of misinformed bullshit about that in the past. The sharpness is there for two reasons: As a method to balance the weapons, and as an incentive to upgrade. Once you get a weapon with a decent chunk of green sharpness (not difficult), you'll be fine, and only...

    Monster Hunter Tri

...Are you high? You went on a five paragraph rant about the fact that you can't CHANGE EQUIPMENT IN A MISSION? That's incredibly irrelevant! As many people have stated previously, you can't change weapons because that would be extremely exploitable and reduce teamwork, and you can't change...

    Monster Hunter Tri

Uh... what. But he's wrong. Without qualification, he is 100% wrong. There is no way you could stretch out the first bit of the game to 10 hours without spending 8 of them in Free Roam, which is both optional, and unending.

If you have a Wii you should get one anyway. They're quite nice. And I'm fairly certain that the bundle was limited release, and most of those went to pre-orders, so if you really want one, you'll have to look around a bit...

Except that sharpness resets after missions and you never have to "repair" in town. The sharpness system was also originally introduced as a balancing mechanism between the weapons, such that some would require more, others less, and that was just a consideration when you selected your weapon...

    Monster Hunter Tri

Absolutely, the point of advancing through the game is to play the game. I know that achievement junkies and MMO players are used to other objectives, but not this game. Granted, if you ARE into that kind of shit, the equipment system is more than expansive enough to scratch that itch. It's just...

Also the equipment switching isn't a mistake. It's there for a reason. If you could switch weapons in the middle of a fight, then you could do a bunch of weird shit. Like being able to break every single part of a monster in one run, completely alone. Or switching resistances up on Barroth...

Agree with most of what you said, except #3. If you're new to it, have a shitty weapon, and it's your first time, I could definitely see the Great Jaggi taking 30 minutes. It's significantly beefier than the glorified minion that was the Velocidrome.

    But... That is the game.

    Monster Hunter Tri

Far as I know there's no incentive at all to complete any more than what is required, except perhaps for the occasional optional quest with the possibility of kickass rewards. It's just really not that hard to do them, and it's nice to see "Done!" next to the star rank if you've got any...

    Monster Hunter Tri

I think the problem here is that "slow" and "fast" are extremely relative terms... For instance, if I had a Great Sword speed weapon in any other action game, it would be considered very slow and annoying. But in this game, it's enjoyable, because it's a challenge to time and aim your strikes...

    Monster Hunter Tri

On the contrary. The part that Yahtzee did (everything up to the Great Jaggi) and the big monster fights (otherwise known as 95% of the gameplay) are extremely different experiences. Knocking out a few Jaggia in free roam is virtually unrelated to being able to kill a Great Jaggi or Qurupeco...

    Monster Hunter Tri

Then it'll take you 0-3 extra throwaway, 5 minute quests before you get to the Great Jaggi... Big fucking deal, you would have gone back and done them just to finish out the 1star rank eventually anyway.
