Bastion. There was just nothing new there, and I didn't see what was so great about that voiceover. I felt much the same about Portal, actually, but it redeemed itself with the ending :) Human Resource Machine. It's the worst 'programmer' game I've played, I could think of better to recommend...

20 years ago was pretty much the exactly when I played Metal Gear Solid, and I thought to myself 'My god, games are just going to be crappy movies from now on, aren't they?'. I didn't buy another game until Braid came out.

Not so much these days... like most people it's the backlog that does it, always something new to try out. I mined the nostalgia trip pretty hard in the 00's, when I was almost exclusively playing c64 games, having gone off triple-As. The rise of indie games brought me back to the present...

The Orb's 'Little Fluffy Clouds' fair took my head off when I first heard back in the 90s... I'd just left school for university and I had literaly no idea music could sound anything like that.

Every level in DOOM has to be played through in a single sitting, with no saves, from a standing start (just the pistol+50 ammo). Alien Vendetta was tough, Hell Revealed was tougher, Hell Revealed 2 is largely defeating me :) Never increase your stats until you find something that's too...

Doom (1&2), Puzzle Quest (just 1), Tekken (pretty much all of them).

Not very much here to see. Still, just off the back of The Lego Movie i'm much more positive about this than I ever was about BvS.

It's really sad to see the old War Golem vs Doctor Boom debate being rolled out again. War Golem is not the baseline for how much power cards should have for 7 mana... it's well below the baseline. And yes, it *is* fine to give new players starting cards which are well below the baseline in...

The Sandbaggers. Politics driven spy drama from the 70's, and inspiration for Greg Rucka's 'Queen and Country' comics. There's not a lot of television from that decade that has dated as well as this.

I might be stretching it a bit here but Battle Royale really stood out for me in this respect. It came at a time when (certainly in the UK) young people, especially 'hoodies', were being demonised extensively by the media and blamed for problems in society that it really wasn't their job to fix...
