My problem wasn?t that she was blonde, it was everything else. The long, messy hair is impractical. The face is too young ? she?s 31 in ME2, and this woman looks like a teenager. Too much makeup, no lines or scars. And only one nonwhite choice. I could have lived with a blonde, if it wasn?t for...
This, 100%. It doesn't matter how pretty she looks if she can't do her damn job. Practicality is important.
It would be nice if they had a vote somewhere other than Facebook, for those of us who don't use it. One there and one on the Bioware forums, maybe.
I guess when it comes down to it...
What do you think a woman would do differently? How is being competent, tough, and good at her job "too butch"? There's no need to have different lines for each gender.
Seconded. I love that her armor is functional and practical. And yeah, we like to be included. We like to have characters...
The only things that should count as canon are things that appear in the games themselves, or supplementary material such as the books or comics. They've been very careful to avoid any mention of Shepard's gender or any distinguishing characteristics in everything except the ads.
I liked Jacob too. Not enough for a romance, but he was a nice guy and a good friend to my Shep. I think he got better the more you talked to him - he starts out kind of standoffish, but as the game goes on, he warms up a lot and there are even manly hugs/fist bumps involved. Not my favorite...
Oh, I'm sure many people will complain about it! But really, even if they were previously an LI for the opposite gender, it would just make them bisexual. Maybe they just hadn't realized it at the time, or it just hadn't been mentioned. It makes sense if you think of each playthrough as its own...
Even if it is done with preexisting characters, it wouldn't necessarily be a retcon. It would just mean that it hadn't come up before. It's entirely possible that they have been gay or bisexual the whole time, but you just haven't had a discussion about it. None of that stuff is really relevant...
DA2 did this, a little bit, with Fenris and Isabela. It would be nice if they could integrate stuff like that into this game in the same way - it shows that the characters have lives of their own and stuff happens even when you're not there.
My issue isn't really with his form (although his form is pretty ugly) but rather with his function. I understand that they want to explain stuff to new players, but I'm not a new player and I don't want to waste a lot of time explaining stuff that I already know. That time could be used for...
