Sounds like you have a blackjack making bone in you. Although it's pretty inventive to make it out of cable instead of leather and an iron ball. Man I love esoteric weapons, I can't get enough of odd blades or inventive explosives.

This thread gives me so many ideas. Anyone else interested in making ballistic knives? I'm mostly into siege weaponry, bombs, (though I'm not stupid enough to make em) and melee weapons, mostly spears. But! ballistic knives are one of those ranged weapons that are so elegant it hurts me to think...

Hmm... A miniature trebuchet (well it was ten feet tall, but that is small for a trebuchet) a ballista, a guillotine blade on a stick, and a few training swords made of old boards and whatnot. I also carve wooden knives! More fun than it sounds, trust me.
