None of those games have changed gaming for me. I've not even played any of them. Put me down as another one who doesn't understand this very odd list.
Interesting news! I'm a big fan of the first one and even the second (though less so) but one thing I hope who ever is developing it considers is the toolset. For me mod development was big part of the previous two games and a new game will die out qickly without it.

I'm already a programmer who programs stuff. I've even done games before but never professionally. I think these days if I were to join the industry I'd prefer more of a designer/producer role. When I started programming games were still small and could be done by one person, now you need more...
I voted for real-time but now I think about it it's the pseudo real-time with pausing stuff I prefer the most (Dragon Age/Neverwinter Nights etc). I guess that should actually count as turn based.
