Who do you think is the most memorable author of our era?

I don't read what literature critics consider "great" authors or "best" authors, but my favorite authors are probably the writing duo of... Douglas Preston/Lincoln Child PS - Douglas Adams is great too when I want to laugh my ass off.

    What makes you smile?

Since I'm a doctor, I'll answer as such: the facial nerve, also known as cranial nerve 7.

    Must-see movies that apparently aren't...

Yeah, I feel that way about Citizen Kane too and it is nearly always on the top of the greatest movie lists. Also I know something about the ending (see spoiler below) that I think might ruin it for me. ***********SPOILER************ Rosebud is a sled.

    Must-see movies that apparently aren't...

Have you ever had a conversation like this: Some person: "Dude, you haven't seen movie X?" You: "No." Some person: "Oh man, it's a classic. I can't believe you haven't seen it." You: "Fuck off". Of course, you have. So what movie does everyone rave about that you've never seen or at...

Random answer generator request and also do you have any eccentricities?

Just get married--wives are the best source of random, totally illogical choices.

    WW2 Media

I like Company of Heroes as a game, but I agree that WW2 is pretty much overdone--at least the battlefield stuff. Personally, I'd like to see a WW2 game where you directly go up against some of the more dispicable aspects of the 3rd Reich, such as the higher level Nazi commanders...

Poll: To beer or not to beer?

I love beer. I always keep at least a 6-pack in the fridge and at least a few glasses chilled in the freezer. I drank it a lot in college, but then it was lousy beer and the point was to get drunk. Now though, I've become a bit of a beer snob and won't even touch most of the popular brands...

    Poll: The Rating Game!

This actually brings back memories of grade school when a bunch of my friends and me were busted by the principal for circulating around a sheet of paper that rated the girls in the classroom... It's funny looking back on it decades later, but at the time we all thought we'd be expelled from...

    Poll: How fat are you?

That's true. However, I think many people with an overweight or obese BMI like to attribute the excess weight to being all muscle, when in fact they really have never been tested. The truth of the matter is that, as a whole, individuals with an overweight or obese BMI are more likely to have a...

Poll: "That girl is hot"- Words a Boyfriend should/shouldn't say?

No I don't think a boyfriend should. For married people though, I think it is totally acceptable, even expected. My wife is constantly telling me how hot Hugh Jackman is and I'm constantly telling her how hot...well the list is too long really.

    Poll: How fat are you?

At least the ones that visit the escapist forums. The figures right now show that about 70% of us are either underweight or normal weight. I'd be interested to know how the distribution here stacks up against the distributions seen in the general populations of say the US, western Europe...

    Poll: How fat are you?

I'm surprised by how many people say they are underweight. Are all you guys really using the BMI calculator above? I think some people who say they're underweight actually are technically normal weight, which is good news since most studies looking at various diseases versus weight have found...

    Poll: How fat are you?

Your post motivated me to look up the stone to pounds conversion (1 stone = 14 pounds) and I plugged that into the BMI calculator above and it came up with 20, which falls within the normal weight range.
