I'd love to see another Final Fantasy in the vein of FF9. Yo date it remains my favorite of the series...great characters, solid story, and great in-game systems. It really re-captured the sense of wonder inherent in "fantasy" as opposed to the quasi-sci-fi mess the series has mostly devolved...
I'd personally say anything before 1990...NES games and earlier are what would be retro to me, as I've been playing console games since the Atari 2600 was popular.
I try only to manually save games if it's been a while (say 20-30 minutes, depending on the game)since I've saved, or if I have a feeling a nasty boss fight I might not survive is coming up.
For games I currently own, I'd say X-Blades. O only got so far into the game, and got frustrated due to a combination of a bad map and repetitive gameplay.
