    Whats Wrong with WAR?

Really? That's odd - runs great on my 9800 GT. I'm yet another ex-WoW player, and I've really been enjoying WAR. It lacks a little of WoW's polish, but it's also not four years old and a Blizzard game. I really appreciate the little things like gaining experience in PVP, public quests, the...

Dawn of War II Fighting Piracy With Free DLC

Agreed. I clicked over to Amazon and preordered it as soon as I read this. Hooray for clueful developers and good principles.

Computer Security Companies Vow to Block Police

Fair enough. ;) Even so, I wasn't so much trying to argue against you as against the law itself; your point about the law having been in effect for a while just happened to crystallize some thoughts that had been bouncing around since I first read about it, so you were the unlucky winner of a...

Computer Security Companies Vow to Block Police

Yeah, but in 1990, most people dialed in to the internet if at all. IP addresses moved around, bandwidth was seriously limited, home networks were rare, and only super nerds the truly dedicated were online for more than a couple hours at a time. This law was probably far less useful/dangerous...

    Laptop recommendation

Could you give some specific types/genres? The system requirements for "current-gen games" vary a lot. For example, my 6 year old Pentium 4 machine will meet the minimum requirements for Sims 3 when it comes out, but my newerish Core 2 system would probably choke and die on Crysis. What...

    Hatred in/towards music

Yes and no on the young people thing. After all, there's always that quote: "it's not that I'm old, your music really does suck". Music is a cultural expression, which seems like it's going to tend to divide people into tribes by gender, or by class, or by age, or some combination of the...

    Videogame Soundtracks: An Untapped Resource?

I could have extracted Still Alive from Portal, sure...but I bought it from The Orange Box soundtrack on Amazon MP3 instead, because I could. Look at sites like vgmusic.com and the use of video game themes as ringtones. I think a lot of gamers would appreciate the chance to grab their...

GameStop Offering Cosmo Subscriptions To Wii Fit Buyers

But wherefore could that ever be the case, good sir? Surely it can't be ham-handed tactics like these that encourage such behavior! Who the heck at GameStop woke up one day and said "I know! Let's take the widely-reviled practice of pushing magazines down people's throats and slap some sexism...

    It's a tad silly isn't it

Quake II Chaos mod. The proxy mine gun. It shot mines painted with bright yellow smiley faces that hopped around giggling and yelling "yippee!" until a player walked by, at which point they exploded said player.

    Poll: MMO's don't require skill.

Yeah, exactly this. It's a different set of skills. FPS and fighting games test hand-eye coordination, response time, combo planning, etc.. MMORPGs tend to test strategic thinking, especially for groups and/or under time pressure, as well as social/group management skills. It's like chess...

Now the n64 kid has turned about Twenty...

I kinda thought N64 kid was cute, actually. It's nice to be that happy. This kid is less appealing to me personally, but I agree with Baby Tea. N64 kid probably is embarrassed that it's online (who wouldn't be?), but honestly, who among us can say that they weren't goofy, immature and...

Okay, so I'm thinking of opening a game store in the semi-distant future and want some suggestions.

Please, please, please, carry some CCG/tabletop RPG stuff. And put some tables out with your systems in the back. It doesn't take up much room and it will probably attract a loyal (and grateful!) customer base if your area is low-GameStop, low-game store volume. What I wouldn't give for a...

    Keyboard problem

Have you tried tweaking the key repeat rate settings in the Keyboard thingy in the Control Panel? Might be a long shot, but shouldn't be too hard to check, and might be worth it. Esp. since you mention other keyboards do this now too. Good luck
