That's not actually entirely true. Being vegetarian saves about 100 animals per year simply by reducing the demand for meat.

I'm a woman, so it's nice to have the option to play a woman, and usually I'll take it. It's kind of a pain when the male and female characters' stats differ solely based on their gender -- I didn't know female characters in Oblivion were better mages than fighters, and vice versa for male...
I haven't seen anybody mentioning the angle that many queer people are aware that they're queer, at least on some level, from a very young age. I was peripherally aware by the time I was seven, and some well-done queer characters in the TV I watched (although admittedly I didn't watch much)...
I'm somewhere between vegan and strict vegetarian, so no meat, dairy, eggs or honey (although I am allergic to dairy, so I have two reasons for avoiding that).
All other things being equal, a well-drawn queer character would make me more likely to want to play a game. Especially if it was made clear that at least one relationship option was actually queer and not one of those hermaphroditic-alien-who-only-uses-one-set-of-binary-pronouns copouts. *sigh*
