I thought it was fairly obvious that he's joking when he says stuff about like that. Stuff he says in Zero Punctuation is said through a persona, it's not his actual internal monologue. I mean I've been known to make the odd murder joke but I've never killed anyone.

Everyone's got a sport they hate for that very reason, there's always something you find boring because you're just not involved in it. For example, I tried to watch baseball once; suicide actually seemed like a viable option for that half hour I could stand it.
