Judging By The Cover: Judging The Martian

I love this feature so hard. These days, I love it harder than ZP, even. I was a wee bit sad (and hitting Refresh a lot) when it didn't appear last week.

    The Witcher 3: Freedom

    Aha! Thank you so much!!

    The Witcher 3: Freedom

How so? I'm fascinated by language, and intimidated by translating things like idioms, so I am genuinely curious about the roach/small fish connection.

Gargoyles: The Disney/Marvel Team-Up That Needs to Happen

No worries! Like I was saying, that sentence probably does describe the majority. I was just wondering if some female Escapists would pipe up and reveal themselves as Gargoyle fans. SUCH a great show.

Gargoyles: The Disney/Marvel Team-Up That Needs to Happen

"At best, it sells a few DVDs here-and-there to overly nostalgic men in their late-20s." I get that that probably describes a majority, but I wanted to go ahead and ask: am I the only woman here who loved the hell out of this show? I mean, I've enjoyed a lot of... iunno... "male" media...

Escape to the Movies: The Interview - This Is What We're All Getting Worked Up Over?

It absolutely kills me that this movie has become the.... symbol?.... that it has. It's goofy low-brow, fine for people into that sort of thing, but now it's been elevated into some sort of blazing sign of Freedom or something. In a just world, it would come out, some fans would enjoy it, and...

Building a Legacy by Standing on the Shoulders of Giants

Excellent article, with points that need to be made over and over and over. I do, however, think that reboots _could_ be a good thing. The whole notion of comics being unapproachable to new folk is one good example as to why. And a compelling universe with mileage of exploration left in it...

Game Theory: Why Final Fantasy is Anti-Religion

    1) Um, yeah. If you could tone the smug down just a little, that would be fantastic. 2) Was this episode considered more a teaser? It told FF fans things they'd known for years, but then you just hit a list of things that were dabbling in the genuinely interesting/new as potential future...

Escape to the Movies: X-Men: Days of Future Past

I normally enjoy Bob's analysis, but I don't want to spoil anything with this movie, so I guess I can only watch this one after I see it? At which point, it's not a review.... it's more like.... a post-watch discussion? Which is cool, that can be enjoyable. But could we get a spoiler-free review?

    Jimquisition: Tomodachi Strife

That was an incredibly articulate argument of -why- that kind of handling it is an issue, with some great examples. Cheers to you for it.

Good Old Reviews: Sid Meier's Covert Action

Brilliant feature to have each week. Thank you, and don't be afraid to have them more than once a week. There's such a huge catalog of old games available on sites like GoG now!

Escapist Expo: How to Create an Online Cult, Er, Following

While the sound wasn't perfect.... live stuff in a hall like that is tricky business, and at least it was something you could adjust to. I went in expecting to watch maybe fifteen minutes, and ended up staying for the whole ride. Much better questions and answers than you typically get at...

    Jim & Yahtzee's Rhymedown Spectacular: Press X

Yahtzee's was absolutely brilliant - what an artful way to make the imagery of war and war-game clash. I stopped watching by the time Jim mentioned slashing tendons. When Jim is good, he's great. I'm tired of the gross-out stuff, though.

    Jimquisition: Creative Freedom, Strings Attached

Amen on the vid. Can someone clue me in on why he uses the picture of the shrimp (and now lobsters?) often? I feel like I'm missing something super obvious, and it drives me nuts every week!

    Designing The Apocalypse

I totally get initially posting the highlights of the interview, but is there any way you could post the whole thing?? I love pretty much any musings by Kasavin (though, admittedly, I never heard of him until Bastion, heh), and I do think your summary of your questions really diminishes the...
