I don't think there will ever be any agreement on this. Most of the time, people's arguments for or against it consist of sitting around mining the founding fathers journals for whatever pro or anti-religious quotes they can find, context be damned! But what if separation of church and state...

Don't be! It's still better than my (previous) answer. In all honesty I use the BBC or whichever American noise machine (CNN or MSNBC) happens to be on.
