How important are first party games to a console?

The PS2 had excellent first party support. Many of the console's best games were from Sony themselves. God of War, Jak & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank, Sly Cooper, Ico, Dark Cloud, Shadow of the Colossus, Gran Turismo 3 & 4.

If they're playing a game that works better with a regular controller. FPS are usually M & KB, but for something like GTA V, having the precision of a gyro combined with a gamepad is very beneficial.

    The Xbox Controller is outdated

Even in single player, Gyro aiming is superior to stick aiming. This shit should be standard on all console shooters. Super Mario Odyssey and Luigi's Mansion 3 make great use of HD Rumble.

    The Xbox Controller is outdated

Because the controller still has a ton of room for improvement regarding functionality and inputs. Ergonomics and build quality are certainly important, but having innovative features that set new standards in equally as important.

    The Xbox Controller is outdated

Gyro aiming. Seriously, play any Switch shooter, you'll know that gyro aim is superior to analog sticks in every conceivable way. Developers need to be doing the same on PS5. Sony's devs tend to be a bit better at using the controller features. But it's still very inconsistent. It's completely...

    The Xbox Controller is outdated

With all the features of Sony's new DualSense controller for PS5, and Nintendo's Joy-Con and Pro Controllers for the Switch. Was Jak II the biggest example of "Corporate edge"?

It's when a game's edginess isn't the result of genuine artistic freedom, but the result of out-of-touch corporate suits trying to make what they think is cool and hip with da youths.

    Sony neglecting their franchises.

They just put out Astro Bot. Knack was also a PS4 launch title as well. It could. But Sony, like any company, would need to be convinced that the developers can make a game that stands out in the current gaming market. In other words, what could a new Ape Escape offer that other Platformers on...

    Sony neglecting their franchises.

They're all guilty of it. Example? Why hasn't Microsoft done anything with their OG Xbox and Xbox 360 IPs? Fuzion Frenzy, Lost Odyssey, Blinx, Quantum Redshift, Shadowrun, Crimson Skies, Project Gotham Racing, half of Rare's stuff, etc. The reality is that it's just not economically feasible to...
