Would you prefer an abstract point/victory system (Eg. Settlers of Catan - Victory Points) or a tangible point/victory system (Eg. The Game of Life - Whoever has the most money, wins).
Political Tycoon. Such a bad, bad game. With it's random events that would thrown even the most completely unrelated thing into total disarray, seemingly arbitrary win/lose situations, and some of the worst "political tactic" systems around, it sucked the big one. Yet I always came back to it...
For me, Dungeon Lords. Even with the Collectors Edition, it felt largely unbalanced and unfinished. It could've been such an amazing game if there had been more time to focus on the engine and gameplay mechanics.
Wildly crazy - A functioning electric guitar shaped like an axe, that actually serves a viceral beheadingly purpose. Then I can single-handedly fend off a zombie apocalypse with both the blade itself and the earth-quaking vibrations resounding from the zombie guts splashing against the strings...

It's an indie top-down WWII small squad strategy flash game based around the concept of unfair random brutality. I guess it does have a bit of a large following to be totally relevant to the thread, but I didn't see it mentioned anywhere so I figured why not :P
