    Chinese takeout

I've always felt strongly that an authentic cuisine and its adapted form should be considered as two separate things. What little authentic food -- made with real recipes from China -- that I have had has been amazing. Absolutely exquisite. But Takeout is yummy too. It's just a different...

Games your friends failed to talk you into

Pretty much any FPS. I'm still going to try to give Painkiller and Bulletstorm a spin, but just the majority of them -- yes, even the ones like Halo and Half Life that are ohmygod,I'mseriousthisoneistherealdeal, youguys -- is just meh for me. Not saying I might not get into them someday. I...

Snap Response - What would you like to eat RIGHT NOW

I've been eating healthy, sticking to a low-carb plan. With that said, if I could without sustaining serious facial burns and wrecking my progress, I'd be ready to bury my face in a bowl of sushi rice right now.

    Fellow Prog. Rock Fans, Help!

BigElf puts out some really fun stuff. They have an interesting aesthetic that evokes a lot of the feel-good stuff from older Progressive Rock, but adds in twists from heavy metal. I'd hesitate to call them Progressive Metal, but they edge that way at times. Also, if you haven't already...

    Best Dialogue Options in Games

Indeed. Almost every scene in those games (particularly the early PC ones) are good. Gotta love the insults that determine the sword fights.

Games that required you to mature first to enjoy.

RPG's in general. I tried Dragon Warrior IV when I was way too young to know what was going on. I just knew that dragons were awesome, and warriors were pretty rad too. My 10 year old brain stretched to try mesh that totally awesome(TM) imagery with being attacked by a picture of a smiling blue...

Take over a game company - Make your changes

Company: Square-Enix Changes: 1) Contact Monolith, beg for forgiveness, make remake of Xenogears with the Second Disc done as an actual part of the game instead of a long, non-interactive text dump. * 1a) Also, remake the Xenosaga series as the 6-parter originally described in Perfect...

Games that are the Exception to the Rule

A lot of us have firm dislikes for mechanics, aesthetics, and the overall experience of a game that we either overlook or that just act as outright dealbreakers. Things that grate on our nerves, and maybe we tolerate them. Or maybe we flip the table and trade the game in for something better...

    Sooooo... whatcha playing?

I've been playing a lot of Etrian Odyssey Untold. It's a lot of fun to explore, draw maps, and even to fight monsters. Which is weird, because I usually hate grinding with a passion. But I'll do it in this game no problem. The only thing I have trouble with is deciding whether to use the old...

Making an RTS, what do YOU want?

Fair enough :D Pause buttons just by themselves make RTS's 100% more playable for me.

Describe Your Dreams And Have Them Interpreted By An Unqualified Hack!

I once dreamed that I was inside of walmart and could rail-grind on any surface as long as I was wearing socks. Also, I fought plastic animated skeletons with vinyl fence posts.

Dub VS sub a real discussion!

I'll watch a good dub if the show is on while doing housework, etc. Because I don't have to look at the screen the entire time to take it in. Otherwise, I usually prefer the sub.

Making an RTS, what do YOU want?

While we're idea-mining, I had an idea regarding the "pause" mechanic - what if time-manipulation was a resource? Like, a gauge that fills up either from taking damage, gathering a particular resource, etc. that could be used to either pause to allow various attacks to be queued, or slow down...

    So, how do you sit?

On the rare occasion I can play a console, I like to sit on a yoga ball. It's super comfy, it keeps me at the right level to see everything, and I can be as close or as far as I need. Plus, bouncing during pivotal moments is pretty fun.
