I have used the kill command and the unlock command to get out of a couple jams and I have still been unlocking the achievements as I go along. From what I have seen it does not matter.

My understanding is that they still accessed the steam database which has info from the main steam stuff like your address if you paid with credit card. But it seems like there is a general consensus that if you change your passwords you should be fine from what has been said so far.

The thing that bugs me is that we can change our passwords all we want, but the hackers may have all of our credit card numbers and can buy whatever they want with them. If the credit cards are compromised then steam guard and password changing will not be able to help.
