Oculus Rift Price Revealed as Pre-Orders Open

The price wasn't a complete shock, I was reading something yesterday about how the Rift would have to be worth $500, but the writer had expected that they would take an initial loss by selling at $400 to boost sales. The shipping cost is rather extreme though.

Doom 3: BFG Edition No Longer Shipping with Oculus Rift

I'm not sure how people are blaming Oculus for this. Aren't they just the hardware guys, so isn't it ids responsibility to deliver the updated Doom 3? They can't distribute a product they don't have.

Lawyer: Dead Space 3 Resource Exploit Might Be Theft

No really. I think the 'theft' would be classed as any breach of the license that deprives the ip holder of income. Take shareware software for instance. Shareware is generally limited use software with either a locked feature set, or limited usage time. By cracking it, or resetting the system...

Lawyer: Dead Space 3 Resource Exploit Might Be Theft

The important part isn't the lawyers opinions of or knowledge of games, it's whether her interpretation of the applicable laws are correct. I can understand the argument too, at least for DLC. Games are software, and since software is licenced rather than sold, if you are using features or...

U.S. Congress Opposes United Nations Internet Treaty

I see a healthy degree of cynicism in this thread. I doubt many pany believe this result was due to any other reason than the US not wanting to give up any of its existing control of the net.

Sounds like someone figured out that Perlman was at risk of becoming a bad PR magnet.

Piracy Makes U.K. Riots Look Like "Children Stealing Candy"

I found it interesting that he mentioned broken windows, cause the whole piracy cost argument sounds a lot like the broken window theory. He's claiming that it cost the economy $1.37 billion last year. So he believes that when people pirate they take an equivalent amount in cash, and stick it...

    Cave Johnson Announces "Blappeture Mesa"

I take the Gabe Newell face to imply it's probably fake, but how long ago was that file available? The site was registered on 30th April, and wasn't the perpetual testing content only out today? I'm open to the idea that it might have snuck out in another update, but people usually seem to catch...

Binary Domain Set to Invade Your PC

That's $50 if you're in australia. It doesn't look particularly flash from the screenshots, and I'd consider even the american price a bit high from what I can see. Is it actually any good, or just gears with robots? Cause most of the screenshots were obsured by an overly muscled playable...

Oklahoma Shoots Down Violent Videogame Tax

From the bill itself - "D. As used in this section, ?violent video game? means a video or computer game that has received a rating from the Entertainment Software Rating Board of Teen, Mature or Adult Only." You can just tell it's going to end badly... Although given a look through the...

School Cell Phone Ban Leads to Gadget Storage Trucks

I just left mine in my bag. What's the point of using it in class if it's going to get confiscated anyway. You forgot to mention that you had to walk uphill home too. Through razor blades.

FortressCraft Creator: Minecraft Doesn't Focus on Creativity

Given how much id engines were used in the early days, a lot of doom/quake clones were even using the same engines.

    Syndicate Studio Lays Off 25

The part that I've started to get curious about recently is whether the bulk of these firings are of permenent salaried employees, or contractors hired to help out in the rush to finish, and then get let go afterwards, as they were expecting to happen? I'm not saying this is the case when...
