I'm guessing it was because Shamus never played them, but the clock tower series is also pretty defining of the Survival Horror 'genre' but they're a bit less known.

Allowing the player to wander around and stuff during conversations their characters are supposedly having is more weird than forcing them to sit still and watch it (as always allow skipping of course). People get really pissed off and annoyed when you aren't giving them your full attention...

You are doing what many people who want to claim a game is an RPG do. They willingly ignore the standards that make the RPG genre unique and claim that Role Playing is what is important. By that logic Halo is an RPG and you know just as well as I do that noone in their right mind would agree...

I added that sentence because I don't like shoving my opinion down peoples throats just like I don't like having peoples opinions shoved down mine. It was there mostly as a disclaimer that no matter what I said won't make the game magically better for anyone. Sorry if that's not how you read it.

To be fair the 50 minute time limit is standard for quests. Whether the quest is to go there and pick 2 flowers and return (should take you like 2 minutes max) or slay Altereon the destroyer of all. The only time it's different is when they shorten it to make some quests harder. It doesn't...

If you know the monster pretty well you can tell how close to dead it is by how often your sharpness has decreased. I know that fighting a G ranked Gold Rathian in Unite with my hammer meant after two sharpens she was ready for capture.
