Microsoft: "Tiled Resources" Key To Xbox One Graphics

    So it's LOD and tesselation?

CliffyB: Microsoft Tried to "Have it Both Ways"

Apparently Wii U game downloads from 3rd parties have reduced in price over time. Is that true?

CliffyB: Microsoft Tried to "Have it Both Ways"

Cliff, when you were actually making games, we semi-cared about your existence. Nobody could make cookie cutter shooting games about gruff and burly (yet soft hearted) men, like you could, at least not with as much projection, I mean, machismo. But you see, anybody could have made those games...

Jimquisition: Xbox One No DRM Emergency Special!

I reckon MS simply decided to 'shoot for the moon' with a far out DRM policy and if it stuck, they'd be happy, but otherwise they'd retract it all to the extreme and win adoration from the crowd as the company which dared put consumers first. It's like praising a murderer because he decided not...

Mass Effect Writer Reveals Discarded Ending Ideas

When I finished the trilogy, I had no problems with the ending. It was very reminiscent of many novels I had read, from say, Arthur C. Clark. It was the mob like rage in the community which turned me off the series, actually.

Dark Matter Imagines a Modern Day Metroid

Hmm, it wasn't a fantastic game, but it certainly wasn't as abysmal as so many gamers make out. Too many drama queens in our community bending reality.

Escape to the Movies: Man of Steel

Sick of reviews which are far more about the author than the film itself. Similarly, I am sick of reviewers who spend so much effort speaking for the motivations of artists they have never met nor spoken to. Who knows how much Goyer and Nolan 'understand Superman'? There's an assumption there...

CliffyB Thinks Used Games Are Bad, Sony is "Playing Us"

Yes, the problem as Cliffy B and others describe it is entirely circular.

CliffyB Thinks Used Games Are Bad, Sony is "Playing Us"

You've missed the point. It's only 'exactly like piracy' because of a fallacious equivalency between the two which serves to toe the current corporate line. Besides, you've failed to take into account that the second hand market relies on physical product which cannot multiply exponentially...

CliffyB Thinks Used Games Are Bad, Sony is "Playing Us"

You should lead with your reasoning rather than your obnoxiousness. The average game also has a lifespan in the single digit years. When the next consoles come out and that game is long out of print, second hand is the ONLY means to obtain it. The hardware which plays it is defunct. whether a...

CliffyB Thinks Used Games Are Bad, Sony is "Playing Us"

Wait? Who's being played? Cliffy B's argument is entirely circular, in that the massive costs for these games is mostly extraneous to the games themselves, ie it is the marketing, PR, licensing, etc which racks up the expenditure. That's not to mention to huge salaries going to upper management...

"Nintendo Should Have Their IP on Every Platform"

Kinda like how most kids today have no idea what Fighting Fantasy is. I loved those books as a child, and I am excited about the movie being made of House of Hell, but Nintendo has managed to remain relevant today despite having a business model based largely on nostalgia.

    Nightfall

You know, his films have not really had that many 'twists', in the truest sense of the word. * Sixth Sense = had a twist in the true sense of the word, in that it turned the story on its head. * Unbreakable = had a twist, but it was much more of simply a 'reveal'. * Signs = again, the...

EA Has "No Games in Development" For Wii U

Basically, the console wars are won not by the passion of fans, but by the marketing and economic decisions of corporations. Sony and Microsoft have the console space so tightly sewn up, EA and other publishers have no NEED for anything else. So many fresh and interesting consoles and game...
