Instictively trying to use a technique in the wrong game.

Trying to use V.A.T.S. in non-Fallout games is EASILY my most-frequent example of this phenomenon. Probably because I played F3 for longer than just about every other current-gen game combined. I swear, I don't think I left a single unopened door, safe, or metal box in the entire wasteland.

    Assassin's Creed 3 Locations

    Here's a similar topic I started a few months ago: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.204184-Assassins-Creed-3-Where-when-should-it-take-place

Does Anybody Remember Goldeneye Rouge Agent?

"Rouge Agent"? Was that the one where they put Bond in false eyelashes and fishnets, and made him infiltrate an underground French Can-Can ring? I hated that one.

Assassin's Creed 3: Where/when should it take place?

True. Which is why I just keep coming back to the Victorian period, I guess. Guns existed, certainly, but they weren't particularly prevalent, accurate, nor efficient. Especially in England, where they're STILL not a big part of the culture. So I imagine a few avoidance/disarming maneuvers might...

Assassin's Creed 3: Where/when should it take place?

That was more or less what it seemed to ME they were leading up to: Hoping to be able to get away just long enough to let Desmond finish up his regression in the Animus, find the artifact, and then use it to squash Abstergo and the Templars for good. So, more or less a game structured with the...

Assassin's Creed 3: Where/when should it take place?

Wow. That's also a really viable possibility. Imagine swan-diving off of the minarets at St. Basil's, or creeping along the battlements of the Kremlin. Great idea.

Assassin's Creed 3: Where/when should it take place?

Interesting. Clearly, I'm not the only one thinking about this. :) Seems pretty obvious that there are certain elements that everyone's thought about (political/historical context, time prgression, the gun problem, etc.), and there are a lot of schools of thought regarding times and places that...

Assassin's Creed 3: Where/when should it take place?

I'd be disappointed if there wasn't SOME of that, but toward the end of the game. Finish it off in the here and now, yes. But...At the end of AC2 [SPOILERS, OF COURSE], they did take the Animus with them when they left the warehouse. Clearly, Lucy and the others still feel like they have...

Assassin's Creed 3: Where/when should it take place?

Hm...I'd worry that a middle-eastern setting might be too close to AC1. And, as history has progressed, the major centers of civilization have sort of geographically migrated West with the passage of time. So if AC1 was set in crusades-era Israel, and AC2 renaissance Italy, England and/or France...

Assassin's Creed 3: Where/when should it take place?

Admittedly, that would also be very cool. Really, any tumultuous period in history, where a lot was happening politically, and there was distinctive architecture would work.

Assassin's Creed 3: Where/when should it take place?

It would have to be addressed. But I'm thinking it wouldn't be a HUGE deal. England has never really had the gun culture America has. Hell, even the cops in England didn't carry guns until the last 20 years, or so. My folks lived in London in the seventies, and the bobbies still just carried...

Assassin's Creed 3: Where/when should it take place?

That, more than anything, is the reason I'd love to see it. Unlike WWII and ninjas, Victorian England hasn't been done to the point of cliché. Plus, for all of the reasons you mentioned, it just WORKS. It would meld seamlessly with the existing storyline, and the potential for missions that...

Rumor: Brian May Leaks Guitar Hero: Queen

Obviously, you haven't heard much Queen. Brian May is the guitar god's guitar god. The man was a monster. He built his guitar from scratch with his bare hands because no other guitar that already existed could possibly channel his ferocity adequately. Besides, to diss Queen as a band worthy...

Rumor: Brian May Leaks Guitar Hero: Queen

OoooOOoooh. Didn't even think about that, but YES. That would be beyond fantastic.
