Poll: Girlfriends: Are they worth the effort?

It depends on how much effort you have to put into it. There's always going to be some effort involved, that comes with any social interaction. Do you need to put up with a demanding b*tch? No.

Poll: Do you have a girlfriend?

It's easier if you can tell the chick likes you, then you ask the chick out. I was dense in high school and asked out two or three chicks and got rejected, while ignoring chicks who were interested in me. In high school, I eventually did ask out a chick who I heard was interested in me, and of...

Dragon Age: Origins and Choice 2.0

Wow, that sounds great! I'd probably take all of the ashes, even though there's a part of me (a small part) which does value cultural relics. But then you throw in the party members, and the fact you will probably have to kill the Brother (small speedbump, but straight up killing an innocent...

Poll: Abortion- What's your position and why?

Because the stage of brain development matters. As I've said often: at 6 weeks of age, brain activity has just begun. Brain development occurs until you're about 25. The fetus is less developed than the newborn baby. As such, I might be okay with disallowing 2nd or 3rd trimester abortion.

Poll: Abortion- What's your position and why?

A beating heart is a poor criteria. Plenty of animals have a beating heart, and we still kill them. Why? Is it because they're not human? What makes humans more valuable than an animal? I'd say it's our brain, thus, brain activity (6 weeks of age) would be a much better definition of the...

Poll: Abortion- What's your position and why?

Prostitution and drugs are other crimes which have been legalized in other countries based on the idea that it's better to legalize said behavior and regulate it rather than have it be illegal and unregulated. That the behavior in question (drugs, prostitution, and also abortion) is not...

Poll: Abortion- What's your position and why?

Because a beating heart is important, how? We slaughter things with beating hearts all the time, and feel no regret. Notifying the father? Sure. However, there are TWO parents. In the case of a tie, who are you going to default to: the mother, or the father? Why not consider brain...

Poll: Abortion- What's your position and why?

I do have experience, and I think forensic investigators probably look at SNPs or something like "short nucleotide polymorphisms." They're fairly unique, and useful for determining one individual from another, but they're not important in a functional sense. I think the similarity between...

Poll: Abortion- What's your position and why?

"A democracy must be more than two wolves and a sheep deciding what they should have for dinner."

Poll: Abortion- What's your position and why?

I'm sure you're right, though just because growth rates are declining, doesn't necessarily mean overpopulation won't be a problem. Growth rates are declining, but the world population has been increasing. Still, we may eventually reach an equilibrium population size and overpopulation won't be...

Poll: Abortion- What's your position and why?

Of course you love your kids. However, if you had aborted one of your children, and had another child later, so that you still had two children, you'd probably love your latter child as much as you love your current children. Most people will only raise a certain number of children in their...

Poll: Abortion- What's your position and why?

And a heart-beat is relevant how? A large number of animals have a heart-beat, and we kill them all the time. I'm not a vegetarian, but a heart-beat isn't a very good criteria. As I said before, I think you can make a very solid argument for aborting a fetus which has never possessed any...

Poll: Abortion- What's your position and why?

Just so you know, natural selection is done by nature, and it ONLY maximizes reproductive success. It's not inherently a good thing. Since it's not nature doing the selection in this case, and it's people, it's called eugenics. I'm sure you can find more about its history if you care google...

Poll: Abortion- What's your position and why?

Sorry, saying, "You know, it sucks that this young girl was raped and tortured for days before she died, but God wanted this," is going to rub a lot of people the wrong way, and rightfully so. It's a bunch of feel good bullshit so we can cope with atrocities, and it directly conflicts with the...
