Your description just sounds like glasgow on an average day, considering from what i saw of the marketing the games main point is sin and disgust. From what i played of the demo its nice to see the effort being made to try and be gross but ive seen too much in life to be disgusted by any of it...
They do update the engine whenever they make new games and further expand on its technical and visual powers. Whilst i do agree they have been using the same engine for a long time they do it well, The visual styles for the game's are so vastly different it not only shows the engines flexibility...
The cryengine 3 is a nice job of porting one of the most impressive engines to date to consoles, i feel that it will probably lack some of the features available on the pc end due to hardware limitations but other than that its nice to see the engine getting more use
