Phantasy Star Universe really honked me off. I bought the DLC for it but can't play it because it's all multiplayer oriented and I'll be damned if I'll pay for XBL AND a subscription to PSU as well.

You are awesome! I have that too. The weapons were cool, but I found that I really enjoyed punching the crap out of the enemy robots.

Loved Dark Cloud and Dark Cloud 2. I also own War of the Monsters which I also loved but I don't think it's a bit like Dark Cloud at all.
