I think alot of people who try eve have the wrong expectations, killing npcs aint supposed to be "fun", not like in, say wow for example. Its just a way to afford pvp really. Endgame in eve is basiclly killing dudes and taking their stuff, and PVE being boring makes winning pvp fights more...
