I'd say both. Better writing is important period. But at this point there's more interesting, well written male characters simply because there's a lot more male characters. I'd say better writing would be awesome and top of the list, but more female protagonists would be quite welcome.

Most of the time I don't mind much. The most notable exception being Peeves the Poltergeist. I was pissed they didn't put Peeves in.

Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate Edition is a must if she likes Mass Effect. And, like several others on this thread, I'm going to recommend Baldur's Gate as well. The second one is worth it too.

The Sly Cooper series is a good one, and Toy Story. The Lego Harry Potter and Indiana Jones are also good choices.

About the Wagner post: Well, it depends on how you define it. The Ring Cycle is is three operas about Norse mythology, so I guess he did. I'm not entirely sure that he specified horned helmets anywhere though. I think you can blame the Victorians for that.

I'm 5th generation West coast Canadian. From Vancouver specifically. And noting all the references to Canadian weather, I'll just say that B.C. has the mildest weather in Canada. We're somewhat spoiled.
