Dropping Out of Too Many Splatoon 2 Matches Could Get You Blocked from Playing Online

Chronic disconnecters shouldn't be permabanned. It's overkill, and it's unfair. Permanently lump them together instead. I don't even play Splatoon, and I don't care why you DC'd. Kids, medical emergency, work, internet hiccup, Game of Thrones is on? It's all good; life happens. As long...

Poll: Eye Care: Glasses, Contacts, not needed?

I'm nearsighted with 20/140 vision, so glasses all the way. Sleeping/bathing notwithstanding, I never actually take the things off, as I can't see well enough to find them or anything else. Contacts? Meh. I look better in glasses.

Poll: What are you eating, Escapists?

"Beans". Completely different from beans. Fry some red bell pepper, white onion, scallion, celery, carrot, and cracked black pepper in sunflower oil. Add a can of baked beans with maple syrup, a can of baked beans with brown sugar and hickory, and salt. Stir, simmer, and serve with some...

Games in which you play as evil

The Neverwinter Nights 2 Official Campaign may not be very evilable, but the Mask of the Betrayer expansion basically allows you to go for the maximum evil imaginable.

Grab this Awesome 80's VHS-style Dark Souls 3 Alternate Cover Art

Picture tearing? Check. Discoloration and distorted audio? Check. Static? Of course we have static. Check. The combination of a worn VHS and dirty VCR heads, each competing to ruin both picture and sound quality. We also have a bad RF hookup to the TV, half-heartedly participating in...

    The Star Fox series

You're on the nose, the 3D graphics were exciting mostly for being 3D, to an audience that had never seen such a thing before. Pure rose-tinted goggles. That said, most atmosphere wasn't derived from basic 3D enemies. It was from the better environments (not all of them), the music, the...

Do you typically buy games when they come out?

I never buy games when first released, and I never pre-order. I've been burned too many times by major bugs never patched, too often I've been disappointed by late-game content not being equal to early reviews, and I have a Steam backlog which playing costs me nothing.

Ubisoft Addresses Disappearing Characters in The Division

At this point you know what you're getting into. Buying a newly released Ubisoft game will end exactly one way. Not including anyone new to gaming OFC, but no-one else has the right to expect respect for Q&A. The beta testers will point out the flaws, and the beta testers will be ignored.

Game series you want to see revived, but won't ever happen (probably)

Game devs making it happen. The Kickstarter spiritual successor Road Redemption is currently out on Steam early access. They're aiming for a PC release of Q2 2016, so looking to come out pretty soon. It's unclear when the console versions will arrive though, the next first platform for...

Congressman's Credit Card Bought Over $1300 of Steam Games

Same in Canada, at least 99% of games end in either 49 or 99 cents. Those really don't look like Steam purchases.

Baldur's Gate EE: Siege of Dragonspear - Writing

Feminism isn't the right to be an idealized version of yourself, it's the right to choose. So Beamdog retconned Safana away from being manipulative slut? Because they're uncomfortable with those aspects of human personality, they redrew the definitions of what a woman can be. This isn't...

Sword Coast Legends Developer n-Space Shuts Down

The Temple of Elemental Evil, circa 2003. D&D 3.5 almost verbatim, turn based and all. ToEE's static graphics belie it's age; it's all painted backgrounds everywhere, probably inspired by Baldur's Gate. Animations OTOH can be generously referred to as sparse. It's 6 bucks on GOG and...
