I see what you mean but what I ment with "Map Story" was, how they got there, if they are carriers etc. (I changed it to "Survivor's story" to avoid confusion) Also, you can set up panic events yourself to some extend.

Well to connect them, you have to press the circle shaped button with the 3 waves on the 360, and the similar button on the headset at once and hold it for a few sec. Then it should be connected to that xbox forever. No offence but, didn't it come with a manual?
