dark soul's only cheap deaths (as in "out of the blue") are the mimics, and that's only if you didn't read the messages. All other deaths are the player's fault for not paying attention to the game. iwannabetheguy / boshy/ is king of cheap deaths

Doom 3, Quake 4, Prey, Fear 1, Unreal games, Singularity, Alien Isolation, Borderlands 2, Halo if you've got any xbox. These are in the order that they came to mind, not really a quality indicator.
