It would seem that visting a game review site and reading the coments of a game review all anyone cares about is the score. it's like people skip reading or watching the actual review just to complian that the game they like didn't get a 10 out of 10 or 5 stars or whatever the rating system is for that site. my question is why dose a score matter so much for people.

Its the opposite for me. Most main stream reviewers who review fighting games and niche JRPGS never know what the fuck there talking about. am sorry they just don't. Just give it a 5 and say only for the hardcore players. Instead its given a low score and they spew nothing but lies.

Stupid review sites....

X-Play anyone?

OT: As for me, I always read the review after seeing the score. Because I never know when something will come up in the written portion that makes me disregard the score altogether.

Because they feel good when they are on the cutting edge of a trend. Or they feel insecure about what liking the game says about them and want it to be approved by the masses.

I recommend not paying so much attention to the reviewers. Find out what the game is about, watch a few trailers, maybe wait a couple of days and watch someone upload footage of the actual released game, and download the demo or rent/borrow it/play it somewhere else.

Just because someone doesn't like a game or finds it too obscure, it's no reason to turn down a game if you are interested in it.

Worst case scenario, you can sell your game on Amazon or eBay.

Well, I don't tend to watch actual serious reviews because they are boring. I mean, when you watch Yathzee's or MovieBob's reviews, there is always a general summary of whether or not the game/movie is actually good, but you're not there for that, you are there to be entertained.

The point of a review is to get an opinion on how good the game is.

The score is the opinion in numerical form. No fluff required.
