Well, that was... overwrought.

It doesn't actually work like that... the moments where your 2009 scenarios happen are much more public though, for incredibly obvious reasons.

This is ridiculously one sided. Just throwing it out there.
Edit: Well, then again, my high school is the most positive high school on earth. I don't know if that was true, but that's what we were told.

Sadly there is as much truth in this as there is jest. Even more sad is that the modern reactions have been increasingly justified.

Well, I see what you're getting at, but both halves of Scenario 3 are wrong.

Erm... no?

Hyperbole is fine and all, but if you wanna make a political and social commentary, at least try to be accurate. Your points stands, society has become more paranoid and afraid of things like this, but your examples or stories or whatever you wanna call them are completely unrealistic, to the point that it ruins your message.

1959- Ann is 15 and pregnant. She is shunned by society, forced to give up her baby soon after birth, and will never see it again. Her family blame her, although it was the result of family abuse.

2009- Ann is 15 and pregnant. Although stigma is still attached to having a baby so young, she has access to many organisations and facilities. Her abusive father is arrested and eventually imprisoned for his treatment of his daughter, while Ann receives both mental and physical help. She is allowed to choose what to do with the child, and when she eventually decides to keep it, she has access to funds so that she can care for it properly.

Scenario 14
Johnny thinks the times he lives in is worst than fifty years ago.
1959: Johnny mentions it perhaps to his friend, but most likely does nothing.
2009: Johnny power up his personal computer, connects with possibly millions of people in the world and starts a debate on a "web forum".

It just got meta.

Scenario 15:

An African-American family moves into a predominantly white town.
1959 - The children endure taunts and threats of violence by white students and adults alike. Meanwhile the parents endure verbal and physical assaults while the police do nothing.
2009 - The children form lasting bonds with the white friends they make. The family is seamlessly integrated into the wider community.

You see, I can make one-sided hypothetical situations too!

EDIT: Geez, ninja'd again. I really need to stop taking so long with my posts.
