1984 and games.

Has anyone noticed the correlation between George Orwell's 1984 and a lot of games set in (pre/post) apocalypic places?

Games like Half Life 2, Portal even Deus Ex: Human revolution has a Big Brother camera in it at the start of the game.

I can't blame developers basing some parts of their games on a book that worked incredibly well, but it all seems a bit... Well, strange. Doesn't it?

I'd personally like to see more games adopt the Brave New World theme, since the themes for both this and 1984 are about population control but are achieved in different ways.

and while it's true that many games feature camera's I wouldn't describe a lot of them to be based off 1984 since there was a lot more going on in that book than just everyone being watched by camera's.

now when a game makes me pause and do physical activity while a picture of a man shouts orders at me I'll admit to playing a game based off 1984
