Ughhh...If I have to choose between the two. I would choose One Direction, they have done some songs that I don't mind and they don't have delusions of being anything other than a pop group.

Depends, why are we choosing?
If it's to have the band die in a tragic 'stage lighting accident'. Then I'll pick One Direction.
If it's to listen to an album then I'll probably pick 5 Seconds of Summer on the fact that I have no idea who the fuck they are. Although, the fact that they're being compared alongside One Direction does NOT fill me with any confidence.
