I don?t see a 20 questions game in these forums, so figured I?d start one. I came up with these forum rules variations myself and they?ve worked well in other forums. If anyone knows a better set of rules somewhere or has a suggestion for changes and additions, I?m open.
So in traditional 20 questions, one person (The Answerer) thinks of an object and the other player(s) (The Guessers) ask ?yes? or ?no? questions about the object. The idea is to guess what the object is before 20 questions are up. The player that correctly guesses the object becomes the new Answerer. If nobody guesses the object before 20 questions are up, the Answerer wins and thinks of a new object.
Forum Rules
Each Guesser may post one question per post
If you posted a question, you must wait for at least one more person to post a question before you can ask again.
Up to 5 questions can stack. Give the Answerer a chance to answer the 5 stacked questions before more are asked. If more than 5 questions are stacked, the Answerer is only obligated the answer the last 5. Once the 5 are answered, the omitted questions can be asked again. **EDIT** If the stacked questions are redundant, or if a stacked question doesn't make sense after asking a previous question, the Answerer should the dead questions. *end edit
Once you reach 20 questions without a correct answer, each player that asked a question at any time in the current game may make a final guess. The Answerer can designate a cutoff time for the final guesses. (generally before the end of the day or 24hrs)
If the only possible answer is ?maybe? or ?sometimes?, than that can be your answer, but try to stick with ?yes? or ?no?.
A game can last 15 minutes or 3 days depending on how many players and how often the Answerer can post. In my experience a game can last a day or two. If three days go by without any sign of the answerer, a new game can be started. If more than one game can go on without too much confusion, then have at it! Designate what game you are guessing for in your post.
Do not lie on your answer or change your object mid-game. (duh)
If you incorrectly answer a question by accident, the person who asked the incorrectly answered question may steal the game before or after it ends.
The objects should be physical objects found in the known universe. Try not to get TOO out there. Also, try not to get too specific, think of a ?car? instead of a ?Toyota Corolla?.
Of course all this is just a guideline, the point is to have fun.
So without further adieu,
I?m thinking of an object!!
