[HEADING=2]xkcd: Resolution[/HEADING]

We've all been here before:

"This year I resolve to lose weight, make more money, hold back on the elder abuse, and stop pulling the whiskers out of kittens for fun."

How often do we stick to our New Year's resolutions? A week is pretty normal for me. Maybe. Sometimes.

But the fun is looking forward to an entire new year with HOPE!!!

So give at least one New Year's resolution, my fellow Escapists. Let us write down our dreams with the (brief) confidence that they won't end up dissolved in pools of cynical mediocrity and apathetic laziness!

Here are my Top 5 New Year's Resolutions for 2013:

1. Successfully consciously Astral Project.

2. Actually write the novel that I've been "working on" for the past few years.

3. Lose 30 more pounds. (I'm actually scoring points on the weight loss thing--amazing what quitting nightly chug-a-lugs can do for your waistline.)

4. ???

5. Profit.

Okay, I'm a pretty simple creature.

Your turn!

EDIT: For motivation go to 6 Harsh Truths That Will Make You a Better Person [http://www.cracked.com/blog/6-harsh-truths-that-will-make-you-better-person/] at Cracked.com. This article just came out but it's Cracked's #1 article of the year. It's ruthless, relentless, and pulls no punches (especially towards would-be-writers).

I really need to go to the gym to exercise more. While I do got a job now to pay for it but I just don't like the idea of being tried already when I head into work (especially when it is a delivery day) and at the moment I only got a couple of days off.

- Save up another few grand for a house deposit.
- Create a few Android apps.
- Actually work when I'm back at university.
- Complete the Bath half marathon.
- Possibly invest in a 3D printer? I've wanted one for the last year but I'm holding out until the cost gets lower & the software used to design things is more mature.

The only thing that matters is hitting the 1000 post-count..I SWEAR I'M GONNA DO THIS!

I guess another would be finally joining a band with members who actually have similar taste in music to me..
[small] Goddamn..I want to be in a band so much.. [/small]

Mark my words, by this time next year I'll have 1000+ posts and I'll be a bassist in an underground Jazz-Metal-Dub-Funk band named Will Schmitt and the Fabulous Douchers

I have no real idea. I definately aim to get a job, but that's hardly a special goal, I'm already trying for that.

Take less naps? Possibly. Though I'm not sure the odd extra couple of hours sleep in the day every once in a while is a massive detriment to my life.

Take care of my mental problems? Meh, still kinda an ongoing effort like getting a job. Honestly, I kinda think there's a balance to the perfect new years resolution. Too small, and it doesn't really matter. Too big and, well, why the fucking hell weren't you doing that before?

I'm going to spend as much money on charity as I do on candy. I don't do any volunteer work for charity organizations, so I don't think I can call myself a good person if I spend more money on Häagen-Dazs than on feeding the hungry.

Actually one of my goals from last new years.
Just got my epic poster badge and it feels so good.
I changed my avatar to a GIF to commemorate it.

mine's pretty simple, get back in the gym I'm still paying £40 a month to be a member of and have gone to precisely 5 timnes in the last year, and re-lose the weight I've put on over the last few months,

more ambitious one? travel the world without using a plane, this is actually a long-standing ambition of mine, to go all the way around the world using only buses, trains, and boats, maybe cars if I can get rides, being wheelchair-bound I'd hoped some way to fix my legs would come up first but that just doesn't look like it's happening so might as well get on with it.

Sounds obscene. What is it? Some kind of horrific adolescent rite of passage? :)

I want to have a pilot script for a series I want to do

When I get into college, it should have all the things necessary for completion, but I want to have all the writing done beforehand
