As the final round of sales come to a close, we can look back at the wasteland done to the battleground that is our wallets. My final hit was 150$ Canadian for 23 games and 6 DLC, 8 and 2 of which where gifts for friends (though I myself got 6 games as gifts). This has neither been my best nor worst sale, but as the battle is over once more I can only rebuild my wallet in preparation for the next war.

How did you fare through this battle?

Not too badly -- I saved a lot of money by passing right by anything that had "Ubisoft" attached to it -- but there were one or two relatively big deals that hooked me in today, those being Alien Isolation and The Long Dark. I'd say I spent about £35, maybe.

For the first time in a few years my damage from the Steam sale is a big fat Zero. My gaming interest goes in cycles and currently I'm more into playing my PS3 than my PC.

I'm proud to say £0 was spend over this battle so no casualties meaning my wallet is prepped for the next battle ahead however bad it may be. In all honesty nothing was interesting enough to buy for me.

Well, to go with my new 24 in monitor, I felt it prudent to buy Mirror's Edge for PC, since I'm without a PS3 now and the sequel will be out next year. My previous monitor was one of the little 19 in square variety, not conducive to a game best played widescreen. It was only $10 so I felt I was showing restraint to say the least.

I've spent a bit, wasn't really keeping tabs. Mainly just catching up with the last year's big games.

Games I've bought so far:

Divinity: Original Sin: Played it for about five hours so far. My initial impression is that it is a bit of a nostalgia whore that happens to be attached to a very solid combat system. I'm going to have to withold a full opinion until I've played around with it a bit more. Mostly positive.

Transistor: Played it for an hour and a half. A bit disappointed. Loved Bastion and so far this seems well below the standard. The combat is very clunky and confusing, whereas Bastion felt very natural almost immediately. Similarly the storytelling is a bit bizarre compared with the absolute masterclass of Bastion. I'm hoping this changes up soon.

Hotline: Miami: Already played this at my brother's, so I know how silly and awesome it is. Just picked it up because it's cheap.

South Park: The Stick of Truth: Bought it five minutes ago so haven't tried it yet.

Wondering about buying Shadow of Mordor while it's on offer. I don't currently have a computer that can run it but should be getting one in the coming year. So it's a question of whether this will be cheaper later on or not.

I didn't end up spending anything this sale. There were a few titles I was ready to pull the trigger on but they didn't hit a big enough discount.

I didn't buy anything this year. It's tempting to get Alien Isolation, but I'm chewing into a massive steak called Dragon Age 3 on my ps4 at the moment and don't have time for the games sitting on my PC library. I've been more into pledging and hoping the titles I pledge for reach their funding goals.

I survived the Steam sales but at a cost, a great cost. The reason I avoided the Steam Sale was because I didn't survive the UK retailers desperation to sell stuff, any stuff, lots of stuff.

Please buy their stuff!

They ran offers all the way up to Christmas day and the "Boxing Day" sales went up online on the morning of the 25th, so I only avoided the Steam sale was because I'm over £800 in the hole for an Xbox One and PS4 and games. I have been busy playing them as I have no PC games at the moment (anything multiplatform I would play on PC, except for GTA5 because I got impatient), except for DA:I which I cannot bring myself to play as the "six hotkey" for abilities pisses me off.

I only picked up titles I was half-interested in, which was maybe one game per day. Shovel Knight, Shadow of Mordor, Postal 2, Shadow Warrior, and Metro Redux pack are the only titles I actually grabbed... if you count the fall sale, I got The Binding of Isaac Rebirth, Bulletstorm, Darkness 2, Wolfenstein The New Order, Insurgency, and the new Payday 2 DLCs.

And let me tell you, if I ever was playing a game these past two weeks, it was Binding of Isaac Rebirth or TF2.

I don't want to call this sale disappointing, but I don't think it was as great as last year's was.

Bought as gifts: Divinity Original sin (26.79 on GoG), Wasteland 2 (26.79 on GoG), Trails in the sky (9.99 on GoG), Bastion (5.99 on steam), one finger death punch (2.49 on steam), and Divinity dragon commander (9.99 on GoG). Total: $82.04

Bought for me: Transistor (6.79 on steam), Neverwinter nights 2 (9.99 on GoG), Valkyrie chronicles (19.99 on steam), Blackguards special addition (7.99 I think on GoG), Jade empire special addition (7.49 on Steam), This war of mine (14.99 on steam). Total: $67.24

Final total: $149.28

Also lets be frank GoG had better sales on almost every item this year. In fact only wasteland 2 was lower on steam then on GoG and GoG either had better prices or equal prices to steam plus you get them DRM free. I think the days of steam being the defacto best sales is gone

The sale was disappointing. I bought the Leadwerks game engine for $42 (because Abbott's running the Australian dollar into the ground) and that was it.

Spent over $100. Would have spent more if certain games weren't known for being so buggy, as well as skipping over Ubisoft because Ubisoft. Also bought games on GoG, so my wallet took a good beating this round.

As someone who never buys anything from Sales, I bought a lot of stuff.

Most of the Payday 2 DLC (besides Clover and Diamond Heist)
As well as Chivalry: Medieval Warfare sans DLC.
- Only to promptly rage quit Chivalry 3 days later after leaving the 0-15 servers with the same feeling of hate i got after playing CounterStrike: Source for 10 minutes.

Overall, about $9 spent.

Was tempted to buy the new Wolfenstein, but decided that I can still wait for the price to drop lower.

More than I really wanted to spend. I bought Telltale's Game of Thrones (wanted to get Borderlands, but I don't think it ever got a daily deal), Terraria for my brother, Transistor, Shovel Knight and 6180 the moon.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, Bound By Flame, Dark Souls, and Street Fighter IV Ultra. There wasn't much I actually wanted. The sale was good, I just already have a sizable library that I'm happy with.
